What does window cleaning cost? Price per window and hour (2026)

Window cleaning is priced per window or per hour. Real price examples for a flat, town house and house — with and without the RUT deduction.

What does window cleaning cost?

Window cleaning normally costs SEK 25–60 per window (both sides) or SEK 300–500 per hour, depending on the number of windows, floor height and how accessible they are. A typical house with 10–15 windows usually costs SEK 400–800 in total. With the RUT deduction, the labour cost is halved.

Price per window – examples by home type

  • Flat, 5–8 windows — SEK 30–55/window, SEK 150–440 total (SEK 75–220 after RUT)
  • Town house, 8–12 windows — SEK 30–55/window, SEK 240–660 total (SEK 120–330 after RUT)
  • House, 12–18 windows — SEK 30–55/window, SEK 360–990 total (SEK 180–495 after RUT)
  • Large house or hard-to-reach windows, 18+ windows — SEK 40–70/window, SEK 720–1,400 or more total (SEK 360–700 after RUT)

Prices are approximate and vary between cleaning companies — always ask for a quote for your specific home.

Price per hour

Some window cleaners charge by the hour instead, usually SEK 300–500 per hour. Hourly pricing is more common for larger or irregular jobs — office properties, for example, or windows that require a ladder or lift — where the window count alone doesn't say how long the job will take.

Pricing models: per window, per hour or per m²

Window cleaning companies on Avavik choose their own pricing model: price per window, hourly rate or price per square metre. There is no single fixed price that applies everywhere — which model fits best depends on the size of the home and how the windows are arranged. Ask the company which model they use before booking, so you know what the final total is based on.

How much the RUT deduction lowers the price

The RUT deduction applies to window cleaning in a private home. The cleaning company deducts 50% of the labour cost directly on the invoice and claims the reimbursement from the Swedish Tax Agency itself — you only pay your share. The deduction is capped at SEK 75,000 per person per year, shared with the ROT deduction. Read more in the RUT deduction for cleaning 2026 guide.

What affects the price?

  • Number of windows — more windows mean a higher total but often a lower price per window.
  • Accessibility — windows that need a ladder, lift or telescopic pole cost more per window than ground-floor windows.
  • Inside, outside or both — cleaning only the outside is cheaper than a full clean.
  • Frames, sashes and blinds — often an add-on, not part of the base price.
  • Regularity — many companies offer a discount for a subscription compared with a one-off booking.
